Summary on Grant Application Form
This proposal is to study the concept design stage of construction projects carried out by multidisciplinary design teams. The research will develop an understanding of the design methods and processes that design teams follow. In addition, new design techniques will be evaluated with the participation of the Masters Degree student on the Interdisciplinary Design for the Built Environment (IDBE) course at Cambridge University. This research will make recommendations for concept design maps, design methods and guidance on proposed training. Our project team comprises BAA and some BAA's Framework design partners, this providing the multidisciplinary team that we wish to study and understand. The incorporation of BAA into the team is key, as the Latham Report clearly indicated that projects should focus on client needs and that clients should play a full role in the design process. The research staff are from Cambridge University.
