The project uses the 3-D TLM technique to model the performance of antennas on complex MMIC type structures. The type of substrates used can either be nonlinear or anisotropic or both. Losses in the substrates will also be included. The types of problems the proposed research will solve are:? High power antennas on semiconductor substrates to enable the design of monolithic transmitters and receivers.? Antennas in high fields on semiconductor substrates.? Antennas on anisotropic and ferrite substrates. This enables the tuning of the antenna characteristics.? Antennas placed on curved surfaces. The application of these types of antennas will be in the areas of mobile communications, radar systems and telemetry.
