Summary on Grant Application Form
This reasearch is concerned with the reduction of vessel position, velocity uncertainty, accurate obstacle detection, and the generation of a global consistent and safety (COLREGS), compatible surface picture compilation for safety route navigation and planning on shared dynamic electronic displays through radio data links (users may include vessels with no navigation equipment). The project will utilise a decentralised distributed architecture that emphasises modularity, extendibility and low cost for technical enhancement, and is based on intelligent multi-sensor data fusion research generated at Southampton.
