Summary on Grant Application Form
The project will investigate radial basis function techniques for generating approximations from scattered data given over the (d-1) dimensional sphere. Questions to be answered will concern the existence of interpolants, the quality of approximation in terms of errors, the numerical problems associated with computing the approximation and the computer aided generation of approximations. An underlying strategy will be the use of variational techniques.
