Summary on Grant Application Form
We hope that Eremenko will give us some seminars and a postgraduate course on his current work. This will enable staff and research students to benefit from the presence of one of the most active researchers in this very topical area of dynamical systems. An example is the work that I.N. Baker and his student P. Dominguez are doing to try to extend to meromorphic functions with finitely many poles a result of Eremenko on points whose orbits under iteration of an entire function tend to infinity. (1989) In addition T.J. Lyons and W.K. Hayman are working on some Brownian processes which are related to Lowners equation in univalent functions. Here also Eremenkos expertise in iteration could be relevant. In the last few years Eremenkos collaboration with analysts such as Lyons (1992d), Clunie (1993b), Langley (1994c) and Baker (1987) has been most fruitful. We are confident that a longer visit by him to this country will have a very positive effect on research in Analysis at IC and elsewhere in the UK.
