Summary on Grant Application Form
The project is concerned with the design of an intelligent interface for power systems information. The interface will promote material and data onto the screen in a way which is dependent on the system state at that time, ie when certain conditions apply so material will be presented in an appropriate way. Due to a learning element, the interface will also modify the way in which material is presented in order to satisfy pre-defined performance goals. The type of system information to be presented/dealt with includes: (a) combined dispatch adviser, (b) alarm handling, (c) restoration system, (d) miscellaneous and (e) trend information. Intelligent interface action will be achieved through a combined neural network/expert system hybrid, the neural network being employed essentially to enhance and modify the expert system. The balance between the different approaches and whether other tools will also be employed, is not known at this stage.
