The proposed programme extends the QUB contribution to the joint King's College London, University of Leeds and QUB project entitled Large-Signal Characterisation and Design of mm-Wave Integrated Circuits (GR/K26998) by three months. The aim of this project was to provide validated small-signal and large-signal models for new GMT H40 pHEMT devices and to use these models in the design of a mm-wave sub-system at 38 GHz. Due to a delay in the fabrication of the first wafer run, beyond the control of the collaborators on this project, the project is now more than 3 months behind schedule. The proposed extension is necessary to facilitate characterisation of the second wafer run, to enable integration of the 35 GHz DRO, and to allow comparison of the different modelling approaches applied at QUB and the University of Leeds. Preliminary results from the novel QUB vector harmonic measurement system show it is effective for establishing non-linear characteristics of the terminal devices. This work contributes significantly to world-wide research into the development of vector non-linear measurement systems and large-signal modelling. In order that results from the joint project can be disseminated the requested extension to this project is absolutely imperative.
