Summary on Grant Application Form
The study of nonlinear systems is currently a very active area of research but alsmor without exception these studies are fiocused on purely time domain methods. But linear systems theory shows that important new insights into the operation of systems can be obtained by complementary studies in the fequency domain. We therefore propose to investigate nonlinear systems in the frequency domain based on a previously derived result which allows us to map nonlinear parametric time domain models into the generalised frequency response functions. This provides a great insight into the frequency domain behaviour of nonlinear systems and we plan to study the estimation, analysis and properties of this map and then to use these results to being to investgate the synthesis of systems which have specified frequency domain properties.
