Summary on Grant Application Form
Research in heterogeneous catalysis requires studies of reaction kinetics over a range of conditions and conversions and for extended periods. The proposed continuous microreactors system will allow reactions kinetics to be obtained at up to 100 bar for small samples appropriate for novel catalytic materials and will complement existing equipment. The reactor system will be used in the short term to investigate catalysis for one step synthesis of dimethyl ether from synthesis gas, palladium promoted catalysts for methanol synthesis from high CO2 containing synthesis gas, and the steam reforming of methanol. In the longer term, the reactor system will contribute to a suite of catalyst testing facilities used for a variety of projects in heterogeneous catalysis.
