It is proposed to establish a laboratory providing on-line advanced Virtual Reality and Telepresence facilities to a range of research activities within the Faculty of Engineering including architecture, construction, bioengineering, mechatronics, telecommunications, manufacturing, marine technology and product design; access to the facilities over the high-bandwidth ClydeNET Municipal Area Network (MAN) in Glasgow, will stimulate research collaboration with industries in West Central Scotland. The laboratory will be financed in part (50%) jointly by Scottish Telecom, providers of the MAN, and by the Software Division of Scottish Enterprise.
