Support is requested for the purchase if a high resolution powder X-ray diffractometer with modular attachments for thin film analysis, grazing incidence diffraction and provision for in situ analyses in a controlled reaction environment (temperature and gas). Access to crystallographic databases and the option for structure refinement is also required. The instrument will support a broad based programme which addresses both fundamental and applied research in the areas of chemical synthesis and characterisation, materials fabrication and performance, and device fabrication.
