Summary on Grant Application Form
Funding for a different scanning calorimeter (DSC) system is requested. The principle applicant heads a group devoted to the synthesis and characterisation of novel liquid crystals. The data that a DSC provides is of fundamental importance in the study of liquid crystals, and is a necessary for the full characterisation of such systems. The secondary applicant heads a large group devoted to the synthesis and characterisation of many different polymer systems. His group requires ready access to DSC for complete analysis of their polymer systems. In addition, a number of other groups at Warwick (both in Chemistry and Physics Departments) need access to DSC for full characterisation of their compounds.
