Summary on Grant Application Form
We propose to design, fabricate and characterise two and three dimensional photonic band gap structures. The structures will be formed in silicon in the first instance with research into the germanium and silicon-germanium systems. An optical gas sensor fabricated in a 2D PBG will be the demonstrator device. Modelling of PBG devices is a significant part of this research and will be undertaken at Bath University.
