Summary on Grant Application Form
It is proposed to investigate the chemistry of chiral oxime ethers, and their use in asymmetric synthesis. In particular the addition reactions of furfural and cinnamaldehyde oximes will be investigated as a route to aminoacids and aminoalcohols. The use of such addition reactions will be extended to the asymmetric synthesis of nitrogen heterocycles, including piperidine alkaloids such as coniine. Finally it is proposed to investigate the use of chiral oxime ethers as ligands for transition-metals, and their use in metal catalysed reactions.
