Summary on Grant Application Form
It is proposed to develop a simulation code which solves the incompressible unsteady Navier-Stokes equations. This code will be coupled with a solution of the equation of motion for a free surface and multiblock mesh regeneration will be used to allow the mesh to conform to the moving surface. The code will be applied to four test cases as defined in the Marine CFD directed programme and numerical tests will be carried out to establish accuracy. The code will be evaluated against Euler results from the same code and full potential results derived from codes already available at Glasgow. The code development will be aided by experience at Glasgow in solutions of the compressible Navier-Stokes equations and the formulation of the incompressible equations will be based on pseudo time -pseudo compressibility to allow full exploitation of this experience.
