Summary on Grant Application Form
Photodissolution reactions are fundamental to the electrochemical etching of nanostructured semiconductor devices. However, the processes occurring at the solid/liquid interface remain poorly characterised. In order to elucidate the complex photodissolution reaction it is essential to examine the time resolved evolution of surface structure at the microscopic level. In this proposal a pump priming grant is requested to develop new methodology aimed at examining such events. The methodology will be evaluation with reference to the formation of porous silicon, a material that has recently attracted intense research activity.
