Summary on Grant Application Form
The research project proposes to solve Maxwell Equations numerically using FDTD method in body fitted co-ordinates. FDTD method has been employed in large number of antenna problems. However, conventional FDTD implementations are in Cartesian and cylindrical coordinates, which are not suitable for objects of arbitrary shapes. For example, stair case approximation is used in Cartesian coordinates to represent objects of arbitrary shapes. This project uses body-fitted coordinates to represent objects of arbitrary shapes and implements FDTD in body-fitted coordinates. This should provide a more accurate analysis of antennas of arbitrary shapes and is a good design tool for conformal antennas.
