|
The factory wide integration of hypermedia information systems must extend beyond individual machine specific resources, and provide as much information as possible on the individual production machines, and associated systems, within the factory. Additionally, the resources available to the user must include the central planning and production data, and if necessary, information stored at remote sites, for example the equipment suppliers; only by bringing all the required resources within the scope of a single information system, can significant benefits be achieved. For this approach to be acceptable to industrial users, the perceived information structure must be contiguous, even though a number of different, and separate resouce basis may need to be accessed at any one time. Additionally, the tools required to allow the resource bases to be accessed by a number of users concurrently both for operational purposes, and for the management and maintenance of the information will be developed.Keywords: Hypermedia; Information Technology; Manufacturing.
