Summary on Grant Application Form
This proposal described an exploratory synthetic programme directed towards the synthesis of novel organometallic monomers based on metallocyclophanes and functionalised bis(arene)metal complexes. These monomers will be investigated as precursors for the synthesis of high molecular weight metal-containing polymers via either ring-opening or condensation polymerisation reactions. The new polymeric materials will be characterised in the solid-state with a view to identifying processible materials which also exhibit cooperative magnetic and electronic properties.
