Summary on Grant Application Form
There is a dearth of information regarding the measurement of ultrasonic fields and parameters in vivo and in situ of ultrasonic field parameters to be made with minimal trauma to the tissues. The probe will be based either on a fibre Bragg grating or on a miniature interferometric cavity, and interrogated via a fibre optic transceiver link. Further research will investigate the simultaneous fields and temperature at an array of points. This would be useful for both fundamental studies of the thermal and acoustic properties of tissue and for the control of phase array directional ultrasonic transducers.
