The first step will be to collate data on the characteristics of water and wastewater treatment technologies. A spreadsheet model will be set up so that technologies can be investigated at different scales over long periods. This model will then be run under stochastic conditions to simulate different types of risk and uncertainty for different input cost and demand. A sub-set of these technologies will be selected in consultation with Thames Water and South Australia to reflect current interests in research, commercial potential and practical constraints. This will include novel technologies being investigated by Water Sciences. A simple framework for a logistics model of water recycling in Docklands will be used to test technologies within an infrastructure. A comparison with the MEP, Australia will be made. Each of the treatment technologies is then inserted into the framework model seperately at one or more levels in the spatial hierarchy. At this point, market research data from Thames Water will help determine the positioning of recycling technologies for public acceptability; information so far unavailable in the public domain. At the conclusion a method for evaluating the best water recycling systems will be identified based on existing information etc.
