Summary on Grant Application Form
Material cascade is a term used to describe complex systems of materials use, reuse, reconditioning, recovery and recycling. Such systems are difficult to assess using conventional lifecycle analysis techniques because they are non linear, change over time and involve a spectrum of different stakeholders. The general aim of the project is to develop and apply a methodology which can be used to optimise such systems over time with respect to environmental performance parameters such as energy consumption and emissions. Thus the proposed research will provide valuable scientific advances in the lifecycle assessment of recycling, reuse and recovery.Key Words: energy, materials, manufacturing, design, recycling, lifecycle analysis, clean technology.
