Summary on Grant Application Form
Recent developments in database technologies have not been matched by corresponding advances in database interfaces and tools. The aim of this project is to design, implement and evaluate a software architecture which facilitates the rapid development of effective interfaces to advanced database systems. The architecture will provide a framework within which visualisations can readily be associated with database concepts and activities. The benefits which follow from the existence of such an architecture stand to benefit both the developers of database systems and their interfaces, and also users of advanced databases, who will be supplied with more consistent and comprehensive database interfaces.
