Summary on Grant Application Form
In order for the aerospace industry to respond to customer drivers of cost, time to market, product functionality and product quality, it must adopt a process view of the business. A strategic level of process description, one that integrates a broad range of functional perspectives, is best obtained using a system perspective. Based on a survey of industrial process definition and process modelling researches, this project will offer a framework from which best practice Production Introduction Process (PIP) descriptions may be constructed. This framework will:-embrace the notion of defining phased goals that decompose the Pip into manageable phases;-identify key interactions within and across these phases and to other business processes;-clarify the key interactions and dependencies between the PIP, its sub-process and other business processes and activities-facilitate qualitative analysis of the ensuing PIP description for the purpose of enabling an effective response to market pressures.
