The research involves the purchase f a microfocus x-ray machine for studying the microstructure of soft solids during processing. In particular the machine will be used to study soft solids, catalysts and ceramics during various manufacturing processes, in order to understand the development of particulate microstructures, agglomerates and flaws produced by extrusion, pressing, casting and drying.
