Summary on Grant Application Form
We have recently developed a new crystalline auxiliary which can be used for the asymmetric synthesis of a-amino acids on an multigramme scale. We wish to explore the use of this auxiliary for preparing both enantiomers of a-amino acids from the same homochiral auxiliary and use this protocol where the quantity of a-amino acid is effectively doubled while a novel Michael addition approach will generate homochiral a, b-substituted a-amino acids in a one pot reaction.
