Summary on Grant Application Form
The chemistry of oxyiminium ions [R1R2C=N(R3)OR4], a new type of reactive intermediate readily accessible from oxime ethers, olefins and electrophiles, will be developed to provide (1) a range of electrophiles/electrophilic metal catalysts that induce oxyiminium ion formation and provide handles facilitating further synthetic manipulation (2) fragmentable and non-fragmentable OR groups with additional reactive functionality which facilitates heterocyclic ring forming processes (3) oxyiminium analogues of the Mannich Reaction aza-Cope, combined aza-Cope-oxyiminium aldol etc (4) chiral induction via chiral OR groups and chiral electrophiles/catalysts.
