Summary on Grant Application Form
The objectives of this research are the design and synthesis of chiral porphyrazinoctaol derivatives with C4 symmetry and the application of the derived chloroiron(III), chloromanganese (III) and (pyridene)(carbonyl)osmium(II) complexes in both asymmetric epoxidation and cyclopropanation reactions. These catalysts should be readily available via short synthetic sequences and in homochiral form as either enantiomer starting from inexpensive (D)- or (L)-diethyl tartrate. Efficient and inexpensive methods for enantioselective synthesis are of vital importance for the industrial manufacture of diverse pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and other speciality chemicals.
