Summary on Grant Application Form
This is a collaborative project between the Universities of Dundee, Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt to model the effects of free surface and bottom boundary conditions on the dispersion of effluent in coastal waters. It will involve experimental studies at Dundee and Edinburgh, coupled with field studies at Stromness. The interaction of buoyant jets with surface waves and currents and negatively buoyant jets with the bed will both be considered. The results will utilise theoretical, experimental and observational expertise at the three institutions to give added value to a project, in a manner not possible for the institutions acting alone.
