Summary on Grant Application Form
The development of EC and Japanese world class pulsed muon beam facilities at DRAl's ISIS has provided the UK with an unequalled opportunity to exploit the longitudinal and transverse field uSR techniques in studies of magnetic and superconducting systems. In this programme we shall use uSR to investigate and characterise spin dynamics and relaxation in magnetically disordered systems, magnetic and unconventional superconductors and weak tinerant magnets. An appropriate theoretical framework for muon spin depolarisation in such systems will be developed using both analytic and Monte Carlo techniques. In addition the ISIS RUMDA uSR data analysis package will be extended and generaised for use by the uSR user community.
