Summary on Grant Application Form
The aim of the project is to address two new areas of research. The first area is to study and optimise the interaction of the traffic control and resource management mechanisms from a network perspective. The second new area is to research the impact of alternative approaches for bandwidth allocation (deterministic vs statistical) and bandwidth quantisation (quantised vs continuous) on the mechanisms their algorithms, and their interaction of a network scale. Assessment of optimisations and alternative approaches will be based on comparisons of the use of bandwidth, the complexity of the mechanisms and their algorithms, and the important performance information available to both network operator and user (call blocking, cell loss, cell delay).
