Summary on Grant Application Form
Some very attractive superconducting properties have been reported in TI-based thick films - both good transport properties on silver and ceramic backed tapes and low surface resistance values in planar layers. The project is intended to clarify the potential role resistance values in planar layers. The project is intended to clarify the potential role of TI-based HTS materials in two specific application areas, and especially their process - ability. Oxford University has already established expertise in the preparation if these thick films by spray pyrolysis, and proposed to build on this expertise in designing reliable processing routes for the fabrication of 2 kinds of demonstrator artefact; (a) microwave cavity filter designs and (b) continuously processed thick film conductors.
