Summary on Grant Application Form
The primary objective of the visit is to ensure that the Network Programming Project is concluded with the most meaningful empirical studies possible, and crucial to this objective is precise replication of the earlier studies. The main objective will be realised through a number of subsidiary objectives:1. to obtain and install copies of the relevant software2. to ensure that all parts of the system function correctly - i.e. precisely reproduce the behaviour recorded previously.3. to advise on integration of neural-net versions which are not precise functional equivalents of conventional versions4. to advise and help ensure that overall statistical results are directly comparable with previous results5. to advise and consult on the further experimental possibilities that might arise from both the use of a novel computing technology (e.g. averaging results of neural-net implementations) and the lessons learned as a result of the previous experiments (e.g. further testing of the explicit weaknesses of the versions identified within the results of the previous experiment
