|
This project will develop a number of prototype distributed multimedia applications which can operate over mobile networks and which are specifically tailored for use by the emergency services. In more detail, the applicants will use custom designed protocols to enable effective communication of a wide range of media types including continuous media types such as audio and video over mobile networks and, in particular over TETRA. The application sand their associated protocols and support services will be integrated into a quality-of-service (QoS) architecture (QoS-A) which will provide a framework for monitoring and controlling resources within the system. Early versions of the application will be demonstrated to a number of end-users within the emergency services and feedback will be used to produce a final proof-of-concept demonstrator with exploitation potential both within the emergency services and more generally by other end-user organisations with related requirements.
