Summary on Grant Application Form
The applicants have been invited to the Gordon Conference to act as Discussants and present their work on nonlinear multivariate methods. Discussions will also be held with ICI (USA) and Pavilion Technology to set up research links and funded PhD studentships. ICI (USA) are very interested in supporting a PhD student in Multivariate Process Performance Monitoring and may be interested in supporting our research through their ICI Strategic Research Fund. The link with the University of Texas will be to develop studies in Neuro-Fuzzy Neural Networks - a possible area of targeted funding from the EPSRC. Opportunity will also be taken to explore, with internationally respected statisticians and chemical engineers, the setting up of a UK Virtual Centre addressing Process Analytical Chemistry, Chemometrics and Control (CPACC). An application to the IMI, EPSRC Process Engineering Panel and the EPSRC Chemistry Panel will be made in July from the Universities of Newcastle and Strathclyde with industrial sponsorship.
