Summary on Grant Application Form
Travel and subsistence funds are requested to support an experimental research programme at the National Synchrotron Light Source at Brookhaven National Laboratory in the USA. The work involves the use of X-ray Standing Waves Spectroscopy to examine the locations of the trivalent transition metals in single crystals of KDP using synchrotron raidation. This technique alone with UVvis and Modelling study will provide a systematic method to understand the mechanism of the incorporation of the transition metal complex in KDP. The proposal is based on our successful application for beamtime on X15A (NSLS grant #95-X-1154) from which we have been allocated our first beamtime in November 1995. The results of this study will provide an important improvement in our knowledge about habit modification of the KDP by ionic additives.
