|
Travel, subsistence and consumables funds are requested to support experimental visits to the National Synchrotron Light Source (NSLS) at Brookhaven National Laboratory in the USA. The proposed work is part of our soft-solid processing initiative research programme (GR/K42820) which is in collaboration with Unilever Research and Cadbury Ltd. The work involves the use of synchrotron radiation small angle scattering to characterise the structure of triglycerides and surfactant systems and to follow the crystallisation process in-situ as a function of temperature, shear and composition. The application is based on our successful application for beamtime on X12B (NSLS grants #95-X-1150 and #95-X-1152) from which we have been allocated our first allocation of beamtime in November 1995.
