Summary on Grant Application Form
The basis of this application is the preparation of novel chalogen- and /or metal-bridged [3] metallocenophanes. The synthesis and characterisation of these novel materials will be of considerable interest. However, of equal importance will be the formation of metal cation complexes with these potentially multidentate ligands. All these metal-containing species are expected to show interesting electrochemical behaviour and due to the close proximity of the redox-active metallocene unit to the host binding site, there is hope and expectation of electrochemical sensing properties.
