To help the typical automotive supplier to move rapidly from below-standard co-development capability to near-world-class and to sustain a process of continuous improvement thereafter, while minimising cost to the vehicle manufacturer.The research will call upon collaborator and others experience plus academic research to develop tools for 1) auditing performance of suppliers, 2) bringing about a rapid step-change in the co-development performance and 3) implementing a process of continuous improvement.The tools will be developed through deliveries to multiple suppliers and hence refined. Their performance will be assessed by rigorous methods and the results and tools made widely available and actively disseminated.
