Summary on Grant Application Form
The application is for funding to support an extensive programme centred on the development of a scanning probe microscope to investigate ballistic electron transport in metals in a magnetic field environment. The programme is designed to gain direct information on the energy dependence of ballistic electronic scattering and their lateral variations. By extrapolating to zero energy, the work will be closely related to the understanding of GMR and electron transport in novel magnetic systems. It is also intended to lay a firm foundation for the future development of spin-polarised BEEM technique.
