Development of controlled polymerisation reactions for the isolation of aromatic and heterocyclic polymers containing 5-25 repeat units including polymides, polyetherketones, polyphenylene, polythersulphones and polysulphone inonomers. Development of HPLV techniques for separation into monodisperse fractions. Growth of single crystals of pure oligomers suitable for X-ray analysis. Determination of oligomer molecular structures, analysis of conformation and packing for the purpose of prediction of polymer structure.
