Summary on Grant Application Form
We aim to develop a versatile convergent synthesis of enantiopure cyanohydrins, using complexes of lanthanides and homochiral ligands as highly efficient catalysts, and the subsequent incorporation of these useful synthetic intermediates into insecticide and herbicide preparation without racemisation. Industrial, economic and environmental benefits are obvious: a new catalytic method for preparing a single enantiomer of the desired product in a convergent manner by suing a patentable catalyst class may be more efficient than existing methodology.
