|
Despite the immense capabilities of new radio telephones, the facility for deaf people to benefit from this revolution in communications has been ignored to date; as a minority to size of Ireland, with an average age greater than 60 years, they require and deserve to be heard.This project will undertake the research and design of network and terminal issues needed to open up the facilities and services of mobile telephony to deaf people. It will involve the provisions of technical and user requirement information to standards bodies, manufacturers and system operators and the development of appropriate interface technologies for personal phones.
