The Strathclyde University research contribution to the EPSRC project GR./H16216 was completed in January 1995. The research was established proving results in the area of robust multivariable control design using the H-inf technique. The results can be briefly summarised as the development of a full nonlinear simulation of the aeroengine and the establishment of novel design procedures for multivariable H-inf control for the aeroengine control problem. This includes the development of new procedures for the incorporation of actuator constraints in the design procedure for multivariable systems and a detailed study of digital implementation issues for such controllers. Although the results were evaluated on a nonlinear simulation, access to the DRA engine test bed at Pyestock will not be available again until May/June 1995, hence the final and essential step of testing the controller on the real system has not yet been achieved. It is the objective of the proposal to perform the real time implementation of the controller and formulate the improvements to the system performance.
