Summary on Grant Application Form
Project aim is to develop a technique for manufacturing rapid, low-cost forming tools by successive lamination of sheet material. Using the basic principles of the laminated object manufacturing (LOM) rapid prototyping process CAD data will be used to laser cut the shape of the tool profile from sheet material (composites, metals or ceramics) to form a stack of laminations which are joined together to form a solid tool or EDM electrode.
