Summary on Grant Application Form
With the increasing range and diversity of frequency bands and modulation schemes for, in particular, mobile radio communications, there is currently significant pressure to implement multi-mode user terminals. The purpose of the proposed research is to investigate two inter-related technique which would allow the RF aspects of the receiver architecture to be common for any modulation scheme/frequency band combination, within a very wide band (say 50MHz to 2GHz). This would then create the RF aspects of a truly general purpose, general coverage receiver, capable of operation on any mobile radio air interface anywhere in the world.
