Summary on Grant Application Form
A system dynamics model of Newcastle upon Tune will be built, using activity analysis concepts. The scope of the activities considered will be extended beyond home-based activities to include manufacturing and distribution activities in the region. The systems dynamics model will be used to study the long-term impact of transport policies, in terms of the replenishment of stocks (infrastructure and vehicles) and levels of energy consumption and pollutant emissions. The methodological novelty of the proposal lies in the application of system dynamics techniques to the simulation of activity chains and modelling of energy and emissions.
