Summary on Grant Application Form
This project will involve research into new, more environmentally friendly and cost effective methods for preparing perfluoroakyl-substituted aromatic compounds. The research will include the preparation and characterisation of novel supported reagent catalyists based on metals including copper, the study of their activity in nucleophilic perfluoroalkylation reactions ( for the introduction of groups CF(3), CF(3)F and larger R(f) groups ) and the application of the new methodology to the synthesis of novel monomers.
