Summary on Grant Application Form
The proposal builds on work, by the principal applicant, previously funded by the EPSRC (GR/J12635) on the development of cash-flow forecasting models for construction contractors. The model is unique in using the simulation of individual contracts to predict overall cash-flow. The work will further validate the prototype model, developed under the previous grant and fill gaps and address identified weaknesses. In particular it will allow the incorporation of data from current contracts, it will include a more effective method of assessing the characteristics of future contracts and it will incorporate a wider range of risk variables. The model will be validated using data and management expertise provided by the principal collaborating contractor Bovis Construction and then used to analyse the effects of variations in strategies, risk and contract conditions on contractors' performance.
