Summary on Grant Application Form
It is proposed that an oscillator element is created which can be coupled via a lumped element to its nearest neighbour in order to form a ring of oscillators. This oscillator ring will have multiple output ports which will be used to feed antenna radiating elements. In this way a new type of simplified active antenna array will be formed which will exhibit electronic beam control facilities. Theoretical and experimental programmes will be undertaken in order to formalise the design process of the array. The design frequency will be 17.2 GHz which represents a future commercial application in high performance wireless LAN technology.
